2021 Boston Whaler 220 Dauntless Video Walkthrough Review

Join Boat Trader and Marilyn DeMartini for a full walkthrough video review of the new 2021 Boston Whaler 220 Dauntless.

Whaler has really beefed up their mid-range offering in 2021, with redesigns to both the 220 and the 250 Dauntless, giving buyers more options to ensure they get the ideal vessel size, weight and layout for their style of boating.

Fresh Look On A Classic Design

The bow differentiates the 2021 Dauntless 220 from prior models with an oversize two person sun lounger in front of the console with storage underneath. Optional cushions on the forward bow seats can turn a fishing area into a lounging area, with storage underneath. The stern deck is now flush instead of stepped as with previous model and the fold down jump seats improve versatility.

Propulsion / Power Options

The 220 Dauntless has Mercury power options, up to a 250-HP XL V8 (which the model we reviewed in the video above was rigged with). With the 250 Mercury outboard, she tops out around 50 MPH and cruises in the 30s. Owners can also choose a 225 or 200 outboard engine.

Standard Features

In typical Whaler fashion, both of the new 2021 Dauntless models have smart layouts, clever use of space, fishable features (standard fishbox and rod holders) and options for customization. They both have a large bow lounger and redesigned, sleeker hull. At the helm is a nice captains bench seat that flips aft or forward-facing, and insulated storage below (with an optional livewell). Despite being less than 26 feet long, both of these models have many of the features and amenities found onboard the larger Boston Whaler center console models.

Options And Customization

There is an optional T-Top soft top or fiberglass hardtop with rod holders and watersports tow point power pole making her ready for wakeboat and ski action. Main helm controls allow for two 9 or 12-inch Raymarine displays and below the console there’s a compact head unit with an optional Dometic marine toilet that makes long days on the water more comfortable while also providing storage and electric panel access

A 36 volt trolling motor can be integrated into the bow and owners can choose from flush hand rails or raised rails for that classic whaler look and added child safety.

Overall

This is a great day boat ideal for the whole family, capable of water sports, serious angling or casual fishing and no-frills, fun-in-the-sun afternoons of entertaining in comfort and safety.
