The interior layout of the Beneteau 49 is really well suited to living aboard or long-term cruising.  It is has space, light, good flow, is well appointed  and well suited to a couple or a family.

The galley is to port of the companionway, with the double sinks up against the side of the companionway leaving lots of counter space and storage in the main part of the galley.

To starboard is access to the aft head, which has a separate shower stall and doors from salon and aft cabin.  The door to the aft/master cabin is in the starboard bulkhead.  This cabin has vast amounts of storage, a queen-sized berth that sits at 45 degrees, allowing access from both sides as well as the ability to walk around in the cabin with ease.  A vanity shelf doubles as the engine box, which opens to provide access to the engine compartment. A counter and storage are situated on the port hull.

The salon consists of the dinette to port, with U-shaped settee and table that  folds out to double its' size for a dinner party.  Two  stools can be secured under the table when under way or pulled out to provide seating, they double as storage boxes.  To starboard is the forward facing nav station with cushioned seat and forward of that is a straight settee which can seat 2.  There is storage above and below the settees and below the floorboards. Custom fiddles on the areas of open shelving in front of the hull portlights, provide further storage and prevent items from 'escaping' while under way.

The door to the forward cabin is offset to starboard.  Storage and a vanity, with stool is to starboard, a comfortable V-berth in the bow, a large overhead hatch, and storage to port.  Access to the head is to port as well.  The head has a shower stall with rotating, circular perspex door that slides against the wall when not in service and separates the shower from the rest of the head when needed.

Hatches and portlights provide excellent ventilation and together with the eyebrow windows and fixed portlights in the hull side, they create a lot of light.

2008 Beneteau 49

The Beneteau 49 is 'the best cruising boat ever'.  Large cockpit and spacious interior allow for easy 'liveability' and that has been tested by the current owners who have lived aboard and cruised for the past 8 years.  They have owned the boat since new and initially sailed on the Chesapeake Bay until they took to full-time cruising, between Maine and the Bahamas in 2011.  The sailing performance of this vessel is outstanding and it is of the first model of the era where the beam was carried all the way aft, giving it a long waterline and flat 'underbelly' which means that it performs better when sailing more upright.

Dream Catcher is in fabulous condition, has been scrubbed from bow to stern in preparation for new owners and is ready to head out on another adventure. She is the 2-cabin, 2-head version of the boat with the large aft cabin with 45 degree  queen berth. The owners have made numerous practical adaptations to make the boat safer and more cruiser-friendly.
