Bow and stern thrusters
Recent upgrades and significant maintenance:
Step onto the wide fiberglass swim platform and enter the cockpit through the centerline transom door. The cockpit is wide and deep enough to feel very safe. A long bench seats four across the transom and a varnished table may be installed or stowed away.
There are wide side decks and a high stainless bow rail for ease moving forward to a spacious foredeck which features an integral and divided anchor locker.
From the cockpit step into the helm bridgedeck area with settee benches to port and stbd. Hi/lo helm and companion seats are up for driving comfort and visibility and down for socializing after. These settees serves as single berths when the seats are lowered all the way. They move electrically. The backrests are reversible. The helm is to stbd and is beautiful in curved varnished teak. Sliding windows, a center windshield that opens, and two overhead hatches all provide plenty of air.
Down three steps you find a lovely galley to port with stainless sink, Microwave, two burner cooktop, under counter Vitrifrigo refrigeration, a large ice box aft and a sexy curved pull out locker fwd. Beautiful raised-panel cabinet doors in satin varnish Cherry add a richness rarely found on boats today. Forward of the galley is a large Island double bed with drawers under. The custom mattress is hinged for access to equipment under. A hanging locker and lockers with shelves are found to port and stbd. A flat screen TV is mounted on the bulkhead.
Aft to stbd is a fully enclosed head with Corian counter vanity and stainless sink and a hamper outboard. The floor is tiled. The marine toilet is electric and a stall shower is aft through an acrylic door with seat. The overhead is white fiberglass for easy maintenance and two opening ports and an overhead provide plenty of light and air. Several lockers in head and shower add to storage.

|Hull and Deck|
Hull is very strong with vinylester resin on outer shell, laminated with Corecell through vacuum infusion. This is a great running boat for rough New England conditions so cruise in confidence and comfort.
The deck is hand-laid glass and end grain balsa core for light weight, stiffness and thermal and sound insulation. The deck is off white with a varnished teak cap rail.

HIGHLANDER is a gorgeous example of a classic hardtop, express cruiser built by Freedom Yachts in the New England tradition. This Mark Ellis design is built to top-quality standards and delivers a soft, quiet, stable, fume-free ride with excellent tracking and visibility. This is the perfect combination of aesthetic appeal and function for cruising New England waters from Maine to Nantucket to Newport and beyond.
Highlander has benefited from two very knowledgeable yachtsmen/women owners, who have maintained her with an open check book. The dark green Awlgrip hull, light off-white boot and red bottom are elegant, and the off-white decks and varnished cap rails provide the traditional look without excess maintenance. Her single Cummins diesel and bow and stern thrusters, make her fast and easy to handle. The prop and rudder are protected behind the skeg.
Highlander is well-equipped with a dinghy, outboard, ultra-leather seating, two elegant varnished cockpit tables, hi/lo helm and companion seats with reversible backs, full electronics on varnished console and generator and reverse cycle AC/heat for the interior and helm deck areas. The area below is lovely and inviting with an Island berth, galley with Corian tops, and fully enclosed head with Corian counter, electric flush toilet and full stall shower.
If a seaworthy, capable single-diesel, down-east style, hardtop express cruiser, built to highest-quality standards is what you are looking for, call today for a personal inspection.
