The Classic Yacht CHEROKEE
Built in 1973 by Vineyard Shipyards for the owner of the yard to exceptional standards, this yacht spent 10 years in fresh water on Lake Tahoe, then was in the Pacific Northwest for 3 years. She was meticulously refit in 2009 and 2013 with the addition of:
Volvo 210 HP TAMD41 (only 160 Hours since repowered)
Stainless steel bow pulpit and anchor
New 2 phase shore power and battery charger
New leather seats and setee
New canvas covers for the entire vessel, including covers for all of the teak
In 1978, yachting magazine NAUTICAL QUARTERLY highlighted the yacht in a three page article, quoting the owner on his pride and joy, and highlighting the quality hand laid fiberglass (over-built by todays standards)
"The boat is hand built, and we always use the best materials. There's no point in cutting corners on a boat like this."- David Thompson
CHEROKEE sold in 1978 to Donald Colpak - Quoted in the same article mentioned above-
"Couldn't like anything better than this boat - people come over to look at this boat and they can't believe what I've got there." - Donald Colpak
In 2017, CHEROKEE was purchased in Seattle, Washington and trucked overland to Fort Lauderdale. She is a perfect day boat for cruising or fishing.
This is the only Wasque with a full hard top enclosure. The cockpit seating had also been upgraded to the configuration it has today, which includes, but not limited to, the hydraulic engine cover lift and guest seating. Beautifully maintained and a delight to the eyes.
The current owners found CHEROKEE after an extensive search of the picnic boat market. We brought her to Miami because it is the perfect boat for cruising on Biscayne Bay. She is better suited and just more fun to be on than any Hinckley or Hood we saw. She is a Gem.
