Located in Delray Beach, FL, I've owned the Commander since summer 2014. I purchased it on the West Coast (of Florida, that is) and took her from the Tampa area down to Ft. Myers and across to the Atlantic side of the state via the Okeechobee Waterway and then southbound on the Intracoastal from Stuart to Delray.

The Commander 42' has been a fantastic companion for our leisurely, albeit infrequent day trips up and down the local Intracoastal waters. Over the last four years, I've executed on several modernization and service projects including the following:

--New toilets in both heads;

--Removal of original (I think) blue "shag" carpet / addition of new flooring;

--Refit of the front v-berth cabin including new mattresses;

--New refrigerators (main unit in galley as well compact unit under helm seat);

--New "isinglass" windows surrounding the top deck aft of helm;

--Cooling system/impeller service - summer 2018;

--Intercooler service (starboard) - summer 2018;

--New starter (starboard, completed when Intercooler was out for service) - summer 2018;

--New battery charger - 2017;

--New batteries - 2017/summer 2018.

I had (have!) grand visions of enjoying the Commander for years to come; however, the demands of a young family with two little girls (ages 6 and 4) and their numerous on-land activities and busy schedules, we have our hands full and simply cannot act as appropriate stewards of this classic vessel in the near term. The "Maus-Craft" was named after our first daughter who's nickname is Mausi (a German term of endearment).

--Twin Cummins 5.9s (re-powered in early 1990s)

--Kohler generator

--Air conditioning with controls for master stateroom, salon and forward v-berth stateroom
