From the covered aft deck you enter the full-width spacious cedar trimmed salon with plush carpeting stretched from port to starboard and throughout the vessel. The galley complete with stainless steel counter tops is forward on the starboard side with an eight-person dining area aft. The galley has a Sward three-burner stove, microwave, and a custom built-in 32VDC compressor refrigerator. Directly across from the galley is a small stateroom with over/under single bunks. Forward of that is a stateroom with four berths and a head. Each of the berths has its own reading lamp. A small dresser has four drawers and there is under-bed storage beneath the bottom bunks. The head has a SaniFlush toilet. There is plenty of space for several people to store their towels, toothbrushes and make-up bags in here. You can access the wheelhouse from the forward stateroom and the saloon via stairs. Interior helm has a large wood dash and a wood spindle ships wheel. The dash is large enough to prop open a couple of laptops, with plenty of room to reach the mounted electronics. A large cabinet in the paneling is perfect for storing maps and other random equipment. Aft of the main salon are two more staterooms, each with a large double berth and one with the ability to put a child s berth over. A full head with a shower is located in this area. Two steel water tanks carry a total of 600 gallons of fresh water. She has a 36-gallon holding tank and 20 gallons of hot water. Throughout the interior of Heron, there is plenty of storage and room to move around and relax. She easily accommodates 12 adults. Attention to detail has been carefully preserved throughout. The cabinets have whale cutout details in the doors and the heads have custom sinks with ceramic handles. Other custom details are found throughout the vessel. There is washer/dryer on board, nice window coverings, and she comes with two dehumidifiers. Helping to create a cozy winter nest is a Webasto boiler hydronic/woods electric register heating. |
On Deck |
There is so much deck space on this beautiful classic, a lot of it covered, so you can easily have yourself a good old-fashioned outdoor boat party. But she can also convert easily for other Alaska-typical uses as well: whale watching, fishing, etc. She comes with two Scotty electric downriggers and has a 14 cu ft bench freezer on the boat deck. She comes with an AB 11 6" aluminum hull eight-person dinghy, which is stored on the bow deck. Two two-inch curved steel davits are installed and equipped with 3.5 horsepower 220 VAC motor with quarter-inch wire for launching and retrieving. |
Engines |
Heron is nicely powered by a single 2006 rebuilt John Deere 6068 TFM75 200 turbo horsepower diesel engine with a comfortable 2,500 hours on it. She cruises at 8 knots at 1,800 rpm and has a top speed of 12 knots. Her engine was last serviced in 2019. She uses about three gallons of fuel per hour and has an unheard of crazy range of over 3,000 miles! It helps that her four fuel tanks carry a hefty total of 1,200 gallons of fuel. Other mechanical features include heat exchanger cooling, new exhaust, an 80-gallon lube oil tank, a five blade propeller and a spare propeller. She has a fabulous stand-up engine room that is more like a work room and has oodles of drawer storage, counter tops, and many places to tuck away tools. For anchoring, she has two 125-pound Davis Seahook anchors and a 32 volt DC electric winch with 318 feet of chain and line. |
Electrical and Electronics |
Heron has all the electronics you need to safely navigate your favorite coastal waters without worry. Navigation and fish-finding electronics include a Garmin GPS and plotter, a Furuno 24-mile radar, two Fufuno color depth sounders, and a Wood Freeman auto pilot. For communications, you have an Icom and a Raymarine VHF. While underway, you have use of a nice 10.5kw Phasor diesel generator set that was replaced in 2006 and has just 2,000 hours on it. She also has 32V 20Amp/12V15Amp battery chargers, 2,500 watt and 1,000 watt inverters, two 2014 12-volt start batteries, and four six-volt and eight eight-volt house banks. Your entertainment needs have not been overlooked at all! She has a Sony AM/FM CD stereo system with a nice set of Bose deck speakers in the salon and on the deck. She also has a 42-inch flatscreen TV mounted in the main salon within easy viewing of all seating areas. |
Additional Information |
Her decks are made of double-glued ¾-inch courses of marine plywood with fiberglass overlay. She also has ironwood anchor protection on the bow stem. There are also plans for the ambitious owner, to step a mast and sail, as the hull is designed for sail as well as power. Much of the stern of the hull was replaced in Port Townsend in 2006, along with fresh power. As a liveaboard, she is as comfortable as they come. For cruising, she easily accommodates you and your family for long voyages. Her safety features are plenty. She comes with 3700/2500 gas powered bilge pumps, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors and high water bilge alarms. Call today to make an appointment to visit your new home today! |
