Being the direct result of collaboration between the design office of Berret/Racoupeau and Beneteau, the Oceanis Clipper 361 could not have been born under better auspices: indeed, both the architect and Beneteau share unequalled experience in this type of yacht, an aspect that was augmented by the backing of hundreds of sailors from all around the world.
Longer and more canvassed than its predecessors, the Clipper 361 is a powerful and seaworthy boat, which will take you anywhere you want in the greatest comfort and safety.
Access to the vast cockpit, well protected by its wraparound coamings, is easy thanks to the rear foldaway door and the wide bathing platform which accommodates a strong stainless steel ladder on the port side.
The helmsman, comfortably positioned behind the covered steering wheel, has all the control instruments at his disposal on the console, which also includes a very handy glass holder.
With a small or lazy crew, the helmsman can also easily trim the genoa sheet using the winches positioned within easy reach.
To facilitate movement onboard while sailing, the teak cockpit table can be removed and put away inside the port locker, protected by a cover.
The main control lines of the Clipper 361 are led back to the cockpit, including those of the fast reefing system, making it possible to reduce the sail area without having to go to the foot of the mast.
Access to the deck has also been extremely well thought out: the wide side decks with an effective non-slip covering, the genoa tracks positioned along the coaming and the long grab rails on the roof provide increased comfort and safety when moving towards the foredeck.
As far as anchoring is concerned, the stainless steel stem fitting which perfectly clears the chain, the deep anchor well, the recessed electric windlass fitted as standard and the two sturdy mooring cleats, will make operation child's play, even for the least experienced crew members.
WELL-PROVEN TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS
In terms of both its design and its construction, the Oceanis Clipper 361 has benefitted from all the technology developed and tested by the Beneteau design office: use of vinylester resin for a more waterproof gel coat, molded structural grid glassed onto the inside of the hull to ensure perfect distribution of the loads induced by appendices and rigging... choices which have proven their worth after many thousand miles of navigation!
The engine sits on a bed glassed onto the hull itself, and the propeller shaft is protected from ropes and other debris by a GRP skeg.
The keel has been designed to combine stability (approximately 1.9 T ballast) with performance (1.53 m draft and a keel bulb); it is fixed to the hull using 9 bolts, each of 20 mm diameter, and is protected by a special coating and epoxy paint.
The mast with its two levels of spreaders (angled 16 degrees aft) is stepped on the deck for easier tuning. To ensure it is solidly held longitudinally, the forestay fitting is fastened to the bow by means of 4 bolts, and the Clipper 361 is also fitted with twin backstays. Laterally, the loads on the shroud and lower-shroud chain plates are spread over the whole structure via the slid tie-bars.

BELOW DECK: LIGHT AND SPACIOUS
No, this is not a 38 footer! Although it is easy to think so, as the Oceanis 361 feels so spacious inside. Immediately beyond the raised cockpit bulkhead (a Category A requirement), the four curved steps of the companionway and the two strong grab-rails on either side are further examples of comfort and safety.
On the port side, the U-shaped galley (2 cabin version) or L-shaped galley (3 cabin version) is fully equipped with cooker/oven, fridge, and many storage areas, and its ventilation is provided by an opening porthole situated above the cooker.
On starboard, the shower head/watercloset is a size never seen on a 36 foot sailing boat: hanging space for towels behind the marine toilet, sink with full pressure hot and cold water, cabinet and mirror... not forgetting the separate shower stall!
The navigation area of the Oceanis Clipper 361 is situated on the port side, just forward of the galley: whatever the chosen interior layout, the navigator always sits facing forward and has a vast chart storage area at his disposal, as well as a large removable panel to install all the onboard electronics, and numerous locker spaces. The 12-function electric panel controlling the various onboard services is also located there.
The many portholes on the full and roof coamings, as well as the large sliding companionway hatch provide exceptional natural lighting in the dining area of this Clipper, as well as good ventilation optimized by a dorade vent. With is U-shaped seating around the table on starboard, a twin bench seat on port, and plenty of storage area... the Oceanis Clipper 361 knows how to make everyone feel welcome in the warmth of its cherry-wood finished interior that is so typical of the Oceanis range.
Finally, the double cabins (2 or 3 depending on the version chosen) are all equipped with a hanging locker/closet, new storage spaces, and perfectly ventilated.
