The Hatters 42 LRC MK II introduced in 1980 is a widebody
version of the original 42 LRC MK I model (1976–79) with a full
width aft deck, extended salon and a larger flybridge. Construction
is solid fiberglass and the full displacement hull of the 42 LRC is
designed for extended cruising in comfort and security. The full teak
interior features a comfortable main salon with built-in convertible
lounge to port and U-shaped galley aft to starboard. Large cabin
windows provide good visibility from the lower helm and sliding
deck doors provide easy access to the decks. To starboard in the
forward companionway is a large locker with space for a washer/
dryer. The forward stateroom includes adult-sized V-berths and
storage while the full-beam master stateroom has a walkaround
queen bed and walk-in closets. Both heads have separate stall
showers. A hatch in the teak and holly salon sole provides access
to the engine room. Additional features include a fiberglass swim
platform, integral bow pulpit, hinged radar arch, and teak exterior
handrails. With a fuel capacity of 755 gallons, the MK II has a range
of 1,000-plus nautical miles. Twin GM 112hp 4-53 diesels cruise at
7–8 knots. 29 were built.
Lower landing has doors to forward cabin, to head compartment and to laundry room with newer stackable washer and dryer.
Main cabin has lower helm station starboard forward in deckhouse, control console with engine controls, instruments, helm, electronics and switches, door to side deck outboard, companionway to forward accommodations, L-shaped settee to port followed by port side door, newer U-Line Ice maker and companionway to master aft cabin.
Galley is equipped with a counter top sink, lockers, drawers, Tundra refrigerator freezer, new Sharp Carousel microwave/ convection oven, Galley Maid three burner electric cooktop.
Engine room below main cabin and accessed through sole hatches houses the propulsion engines, generator, tanks, seacocks, pumps, batteries and other mechanical, plumbing and electrical components.
Master stateroom has queen island berth with water tank underneath, bilge pump and components of steering system below, large lockers, and drawers outboard, entry port door forward, door to head compartment starboard forward.
Master head compartment is equipped with counter top sink, lockers, electric marine head and shower stall.
