Deck and Hull Equipment:
The Bow Starting from the bow, there is a large stainless steel bow pulpit and teak platform over the bowsprit. The platform contains the 2 anchor rollers and anchor stowage plus the attachment fitting for the detachable forestay. Immediately aft and 2 steps down is an open well which contains a pair of samson posts, the chain and line rode windlass and the hawsepipes leading to chain and line lockers below deck. The well has 2 drains and 2 bronze hawse holes for the forward mooring lines. Mainmast Area The mainmast area has a large deckbox forward of the mast and pulpits with custom stowage for 4 scuba tanks, 2 on either side of the mast. The port pulpit also has stowage for the detachable forestay. Port and starboard just aft of the mast on the caprail is stowage for the running backstays which support the forestaysail when it is rigged. The Deck The entire deck is natural weathered teak planking. Bulwarks capped with brightwork surround the deck, as do stanchions and double lifelines. Chainplates are fastened to the outside of the hull, and there is a deep rubrail along both sides of the boat. It is weathered teak with a stainless steel cap and is useful as a step. Just aft of the mast is the cradle for the liferaft and aft of that is a long, full-beam open deck leading to the pilothouse. Midship cleats are mounted on teak blocks high enough to clear the bulwarks. The Charlie Noble through-deck fitting for the removable woodstove chimney is to port, closed off by a threaded bronze deckplate. Teak decking runs aft along both sides of the pilothouse for easy passage to the stern. About halfway aft are port and starboard gates in the lifelines. To port is the fold-up boarding stage/swim platform and ladder and to starboard, the entry to the companionway with an overhead sliding hatch, double doors and a custom locking device. Cockpit One step up and inboard leads to the cockpit which is surrounded by curved lazarettes topped with water-shedding custom-fitted cushions. There is additional stowage in the cockpit combing compartments.Under the helmsman s seat is the scuba compressor. There is a brightwork binnacle in the center of the cockpit with wheel, engine controls, chartplotter/radar/GPS and gauges. The mizzen mast is 2 feet forward of the binnacle, permitting easy passage around the cockpit. Forward of the mizzen mast is an instrument console containing a second GPS unit, depth sounder, VHF radio, wind indicator and tri-data.The cockpit can be completely enclosed by a bimini above and detachable roll-down side windows. The cockpit can also be accessed from the aft deck through a short passageway which houses a hot and cold water shower. Aft Deck and Transom The raised aft deck surrounds the cockpit on 3 sides and extends well aft of it. There is a deckbox that runs across the top of the transom. A stern pulpit encloses the aft deck and there is a gate amidships for stern entry. The new, custom made dinghy davits curve aft over the transom and have a solar panel mounted on a stout bar that connects them for added stability. The davits are cabled through the deck, port and starboard, which permits lifting the tender with its motor mounted when at anchor or docked. Mounted on the stern pulpit are the barbeque grill, MOB pole, Lifesling, stern anchor with chain and line rode, a fishing pole holder and a stowage bracket for the dinghy motor when on passage. The transom has 2 sealed windows and is outlined by brightwork, often called a sweetheart stern . A brightwork rail encloses the aft deck, and the cockpit is outlined by brightwork combing and decorative edging.
