General Description
The Freedom 40' is a Cat Ketch classic centerboard yacht Hoyt/Herreshoff design. She is a blue water cruiser. Fiberglass decks, little rigging to be concerned with. The interior is well-suited for a live a board or for extended cruising. This vessel is very stable and seaworthy and known for their stout construction and roomy interior.

Actual Condition

It is reported that storm damage from Hurricane Irma included:

  • The portside of the vessel's hull has multiple scratches and gouges.
  • The portside amidships deck hatch is missing its glass.
  • Both wooden wishbones are fractured in several places.
  • Both sails are damaged and torn.
  • The bow pulpit is fractured off and has deteriorated core material (long term).
  • The push pit has damage to its port side.
  • The vessels stem has gouging, scratching and abrasions.
  • The forward deck hatch is scratched.
  • The bow rail is bent. The stanchions on both side of the vessel are bent.
  • The starboard upper lifeline is damaged.
  • No evidence of flooding was sighted.
  • The vessels engine was started momentarily but condition is unknown.
  • The stern rail mounted grill is missing its top and inside pieces.
  • Some of the teak trim on deck is damaged. Please inspect carefully before making an offer.
