entire bottom "wooded" = taken down to bare wood (removal of old bottom-paint) four years ago; first coat of new paint thinned for best penetration, then additional coats. We believe this may be one of the rare post-war Chris-Crafts with hull built of cedar, not mahogany (most long-planks of mahogany were used up in the war-effort) -- cedar IS more rot-resistant. Trying to confirm...
Craftsmanship we may never see again! This just-postwar construction used amazing clear-grained mahogany, with the strong scantlings of the pre-war Chris-Crafts... gorgeous under her deep varnish. Boathouse-kept at Day Island Yacht Club nearly fifty years, she's had a full restoration a few years ago with only light usage since (owner has another "woodie", a Grand Banks, for the long cruises...) -- all-new wiring through-out, re-manufactured Chrysler 318's, new carpeting and upholstery, excellent brightwork, re-chromed metals... everything's been done, so now YOU can go cruising in a style of a bygone era. The added flybridge yields an incredible amount of usable outside space; no "stuffy old sedan", this one... A practical family boat for the northwest classic-boat connoisseur. Appointment to see, please...
